Know which posts send people to your site
Add UTM tags to the links in your posts and swap them for short tracked links. Smartplannr counts the clicks itself, so you see real visits, not a platform estimate.

What link tracking does
UTM tags, added for you
Tag the links in each post so your website analytics knows which network and campaign sent the visit.
Short tracked links
Links in your posts are replaced with short links that count each click before sending people on.
Clicks and unique visitors
See total clicks and unique visitors per post, without storing anything that identifies the person.
Bots left out
Link-preview crawlers are recognised and never counted, so a preview card doesn’t read as a visit.
In your analytics and reports
Click counts sit next to the network’s own figures in analytics and reports.
Included from Plus
Click tracking is part of Plus, Pro and Max.
How to track clicks from your posts
Set your tags
In the UTM settings, set the tags you want added to your links, so your website analytics knows where each visit came from.
Add links as usual
Paste links into your post. With Automatic UTM tagging and First-party click tracking switched on, they’re tagged and shortened when the post is saved.
Publish
The short link goes out with the post, and its preview card still shows.
Read the clicks
Clicks and unique visitors appear next to the post’s other figures in analytics and reports.
Three things link tracking can tell you
Which network sends visits
Compare clicks from the same link posted to Facebook, LinkedIn and Threads.
Which offer works
Post two versions of an offer a week apart and see which one people clicked.
Whether a campaign paid off
Add up the clicks across a campaign’s posts in a report for your client or manager.
Good to know
- Click tracking is part of Plus, Pro and Max.
- Link-preview crawlers are never counted as clicks.
- More than 120 clicks a minute on one link stop being recorded, though the link keeps working, so a burst of automated traffic can’t inflate your numbers.
- Click data is kept for 400 days, long enough to compare one year with the last.
