Before you start
You need a Threads account, and a tool that connects to Threads through its official API. Smartplannr connects Threads directly, separately from Instagram.
How to schedule a Threads post
- Connect ThreadsIn Smartplannr, open Settings, then Social Accounts, and sign in with Threads.
- Write the postUp to 500 characters. Add a photo, a video, or a carousel of 2 to 20 items.
- Choose who can replyAnyone, your followers, profiles you follow, or only profiles you mention.
- Schedule itPick a date and time, or the next posting slot. It publishes at that time, and replies arrive in your inbox.
Limits to know
- 500 characters per post.
- Carousels need at least 2 items and can have up to 20.
- Who can reply is set when the post is created and can’t be changed afterwards.
- Replies, quotes, link attachments and polls can’t be scheduled through Smartplannr yet.
Writing for Threads
Threads rewards conversation more than broadcast. Ask questions, share opinions and reply to people who reply to you. A post that works on Instagram as a caption often needs a sharper first line on Threads, so tailor the version rather than copying it across.
